The graduating class of 2020 have organized themselves into teams that contribute to the overall production and experience of the Hindsight grad show. This creates the opportunity for the students to come together and experience the effort that goes into producing a professional gallery show.

Editorial

The editorial team handles the financial documents and communicates each team’s goals that they strive to achieve in relation to the Hindsight show preparation. Miikal and Sabrina also take part in reviewing written work other teams produce. Both editorial and task manager teams play a big role in the organization aspect by work closely together to ensure all technical documents are fulfilled from all teams.

Graphic Design

The name Hindsight was determined as a class. The design team is responsible for the visual identity of the show. Since Hindsight is 20/20 and the year is 2020, the team has experimented with reflective print material to communicate looking back at the past. This is incorporated into the high contrast colour scheme of black and white. Past grad show themes are implemented to pay tribute to the end of the Visual Communications title which will soon change to Art and Design.

Networking

Building connections between the community and the graduating students is the main focus for the networking team. This includes reaching out to local companies in the design and art field, visiting high schools to inform students of the program, and promoting the show at the Tourist Centre of Medicine Hat. These connections are best demonstrated in our podcast where you can listen in on talks with locals in the design and art field.

Photography

To reflect Hindsight, Sierra Levac captures in detail our day to day operations in preparation for the show. Sierra invites us all to jump inside the studio space to view the working students in a more personal manner. This creates memorable content for the final show under the name of Visual Communications before being redefined as the Art and Design program.

Podcast

To aid in connecting with the community, the graduating class has been producing an art and design focused podcast. The podcast allows us to connect with local artists, designers, business owners, and instructors in Medicine Hat. The podcast has also provided an opportunity for the community to learn more about Hindsight’s graduating students and the importance of art and design. Want to listen to an episode? Video

To encourage a connection between the graduates and the community, the video team has conducted interviews with the students. These interviews are approximately a minute long and give the students a chance to introduce themselves and their projects. Keep your eyes peeled for video content on the grads social media, or wait to see the interviews at the Hindsight grad show reception!
